Job Summary:
The Restaurant Captain is responsible for overseeing the dining area, managing waitstaff, and ensuring that guests receive high-quality service. They act as the bridge between the front-of-house team and management, upholding standards of service and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests in a courteous and professional manner.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of waitstaff and support staff during service.
- Ensure timely and high-quality service to all guests.
- Assist in taking and serving orders, especially during peak hours.
- Maintain cleanliness and ambiance of the dining area.
- Handle guest complaints promptly and professionally.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and assign daily duties to team members.
- Ensure adherence to restaurant policies, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Monitor inventory of food, beverages, and supplies in the dining area.
- Train and mentor junior staff to maintain service quality.
- Prepare shift reports and communicate with kitchen and management teams.
- Ensure billing and payment processes are accurate and smooth.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Restaurant Captain, Senior Waiter, or similar role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations and safety regulations.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality certification preferred.
