Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Commis I specializing in Asian Cuisine to join our culinary team in Mysuru, India. As a Commis I, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the preparation of authentic Asian dishes.
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for Asian cuisine, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and meats
- Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs to prepare basic components of Asian dishes
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation
- Assist in the proper storage and labeling of ingredients and prepared foods
- Learn and apply various Asian cooking techniques under the guidance of experienced chefs
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation as directed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school diploma or certificate preferred
- Basic knife skills and knowledge of Asian cuisine techniques and ingredients
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices; food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) preferred
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Strong time management skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Basic understanding of Asian cuisine and cooking methods
- Previous kitchen experience is preferred but not required for entry-level candidates
- Willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field
