EHS OFFICIAL – ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (UPDATED)1. Environmental Management
- Ensure compliance with Pollution Control Board (PCB) standards (air, water, noise).
- Monitor and record:
- Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) performance
- Air emissions from extrusion/drying lines
- Plastic waste and sludge handling
- Oversee safe storage and disposal of chemicals (e.g., caustic soda).
- Drive resource efficiency (water, energy, reusability of waste).
2. Health & Safety Management
- Perform hazard identification and risk assessment in all process areas.
- Supervise installation and maintenance of:
- Safety Signboards (PPE zones, fire exits, emergency contact info)
- Emergency lights and fire extinguishers
- Ensure regular inspection of:
- Shredders, washers, extruders, chillers
- Electrical panels and hot zones
- Conduct routine fire and chemical spill drills.
- Ensure machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO) compliance.
3. Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Supervise daily cleaning schedules across all production and storage areas.
- Ensure:
- Proper segregation of waste (plastic, sludge, general)
- Spill kits availability near chemical handling zones
- Maintain hygiene stations (handwash, sanitizers) at entrances, cafeterias.
- Periodic pest control and ventilation check in indoor areas.
4. Safety Signage & Installations
- Install and maintain:
- Mandatory PPE signs at entry and process points
- Danger and caution boards for high-voltage and rotating equipment
- Exit route maps and assembly point indicators
- Update boards regularly with:
- Daily safety tips
- Injury-free man-days
- EHS policy and hotline numbers
5. Legal & Regulatory Compliance
- Track and renew:
- Factory license, CTO CTE, Hazardous waste license
- Conduct internal and external audits; ensure zero non-compliance.
- Liaise with:
- State PCB, Fire Department, Inspector of Factories
6. Training & Awareness
- Conduct:
- Monthly EHS toolbox talks
- Induction training for new employees
- Drills for fire, chemical exposure, and first aid
- Display training charts and emergency numbers at key locations.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain:
- EHS dashboards and monthly compliance reports
- Incident and near-miss records
- Updated SOPs, MSDS, and emergency response plans
- Submit KPI reports to plant head or group EHS quarterly.
The candidate is required to HAVE EXPERIENCE in using online software on EHS
