Key responsibilities
1. Oversee the Rail and Gate operations to ensure safety and efficiency at workplace.
2. Ensure sufficient resources are available at site to perform the activities efficiently and safely.
3. Ensure Rail and Gate operational objectives and targets are aligned with the Terminal Objectives.
4. Monitor the Rail and Gate operations KPI are achieved and follow up with the required actions.
5. Ensure the Quality, Health, safety, Environment and Security policies are complied at workplace
6. Ensure all the Government and Local rules and regulations are complied with.
7. Analyze the data on operational parameters and performance at Rail and Gate operations to further have the continual improvement plan.
8. Ensure required corrective and preventive actions are initiated to keep the workplace safe and efficient.
9. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to deliver the required services at Gate and Rail side.
10. Participate in annual budgeting process for Operations department and include the budget for the Gate and Rail side.
11. Ensure all the high risks at Rail and Gate Side are assessed and required control measures are in place to mitigate the risks.
12. Ensure all the required SOPs are in place for Gate and Rail activities and are reviewed as required.
13. Provide required inputs to Head Operations and Management regarding the operational and Safety performance at gate and Rail side functions and suggest the areas of improvement with proposed actions and further prepare and follow up the action plans.
14. Liaise with Indian Railways, Container Train Operators, Neighboring Terminals, Port Authority, Shipping Lines, Transporters to ensure efficient operations at NSICT Rail lines and at other Terminal rail lines.
15. Liaise with Central parking Plaza, CFSs, Empty depots, Shipping Lines, Port Authority, CISF to ensure efficient Gate Operations.
16. Ensure the external queue of trailers and the Yard operations for external trailer handling is controlled properly to avoid long queues outside and congestion inside the yard.
17. Ensure customers are provided with the required support as required.
18. Liaise with internal team including Finance for proper invoicing, CRM for customer support, Security for deployment of watch and ward and CISF at Gate and ICD, IT Team for keeping Gate automation and software up to date and TOS functioning, Contractors for providing the accurate survey process, CISF officials for manning the required number of gates.
19. Ensure the Contract Labour Management System is complied with.
20. Attend all the meetings at Port Authority, Transport Associations, Customs, Traffic Police related to Gate and Rail Functions.
21. Ensure proper reports are prepared, inspections are carried out, trainings are conducted, action plans are initiated and followed up at Gate and Rail functions.
22. Ensure the Gate automation is functioning properly
23. Ensure Twist Lock arresters are distributed properly at Gate and used by external trailer drivers.
