Job Summary: Camp Coordinator
The Camp Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing eye screening camps in collaboration with local partners, ensuring smooth logistics, adequate staffing, equipment readiness, and quality patient care delivery during outreach events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify suitable locations and collaborate with local NGOs, schools, community leaders, and health workers.
- Coordinate all pre-camp and post-camp activities including permissions, transport, publicity, and scheduling.
- Mobilize community members to attend camps through effective communication and awareness programs.
- Arrange and transport necessary equipment, optical devices, and medications to and from the camp site.
- Supervise the camp team (optometrists, counselors, volunteers, etc.) and manage on-site logistics.
- Maintain documentation, patient registration, and camp reports.
- Ensure referral cases from the camp are followed up for hospital visits or surgeries.
- Ensure camp activities comply with hospital standards and guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate in any discipline; a degree/diploma in Hospital Administration/Public Health is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare or NGO/community outreach.
- Excellent planning, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in local language(s); basic English proficiency preferred.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work on weekends if required.
Job Summary: Camp Counsellor
The Camp Counsellor plays a vital role in educating patients during eye camps, guiding them through registration, eye check-up processes, and providing essential information on eye care, surgery, and follow-up procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interact with camp attendees and assist with registration and patient flow.
- Educate patients on the importance of eye care and common eye conditions (e.g., cataract, glaucoma, refractive errors).
- Counsel referred patients about diagnosis, hospital procedures, and the importance of surgery or follow-up.
- Address patient queries with empathy and clarity.
- Collect and document patient details and ensure correct referrals to the hospital.
- Support patient coordination for transportation and post-operative care when needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate in any discipline; a background in social work or healthcare is an advantage.
- 1–2 years of experience in community engagement or health counselling preferred.
- Good communication and patient handling skills.
- Knowledge of local languages and cultural sensitivities.
- Compassionate, proactive, and team-oriented.
