About The Job
We are looking for a Tech Lead for ShopCash, Wego’s cashback and deal discovery platform.
You will own ShopCash’s technical vision and day-to-day delivery, leading a five-person cross-functional squad (Elixir back-end, React Native mobile, Next.js web, QA) to ship features that lift user adoption and contribution margin. You balance hands-on coding with strategic leadership, using AI tooling to compress cycle time while keeping your manager reliably informed of risks and milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Product engineering leadership
- Optimize for the business while co-creating the product with other functions (Product, Design, Business, Data).
- Co-create the product strategy and roadmap with Product and Design.
- Operate with high agency.
- Technical leadership and strategy
- Lead a team composed of engineers in different functions: mobile development, back-end development, QA.
- Tech stack: Elixir, Next.js, React Native, AWS. Depth in Elixir, TypeScript or another server-side language is expected, with an appetite to master Elixir. Possess enough breadth to guide and review work across the others, guiding the team towards sound architecture, maintainable code, and reliable operations.
- Own end-to-end delivery of large projects.
- Set technical direction.
- Collaborate with peer Tech Leads (e.g., Software Engineers, Security, etc.).
- Evaluate emerging technologies through a business-centric lens – balancing innovation with practical impact on outcomes and ROI.
- AI fluency
- Already use coding assistants (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf) to solve large problems, interrupting only to guide or correct.
- Review and validate AI output.
- Operational ownership
- Implement and refine comprehensive monitoring and alerting strategies for proactive issue detection.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis for incidents in the product.
- Team Mentorship
- Provide mentorship, feedback, and coaching to foster professional growth in your team.
- Champion knowledge sharing and healthy, respectful debate on technical matters.
- Cross-functional collaboration
- Partner effectively with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver results for the business.
- Confident and fluent when communicating technical challenges and opportunities clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
