A Sales Engineer for an electrical control panel manufacturer identifies client needs, designs customized panel solutions, and closes sales by presenting technical proposals, product demonstrations, and cost-benefit analyses to consultants, contractors, and end-users. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems (PLC, SCADA, VFDs), excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to build strong client relationships. Key responsibilities include lead generation, technical support, preparing proposals, managing accounts, and contributing to market growth through strategic sales activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development:Proactively identify and pursue new sales opportunities and generate leads within the industrial automation and control panel market.
- Client Engagement:Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, including consultants, contractors, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
- Technical Solution Design:Understand client requirements and collaborate with engineering teams to propose tailored electrical control panel solutions and technical proposals.
- Presentations & Demonstrations:Deliver compelling technical presentations and product demonstrations to showcase the value of the company's control panels.
- Proposal Development:Prepare detailed technical proposals, quotations, and cost-benefit analyses for potential clients.
- Sales Negotiation & Closure:Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with clients to successfully close sales.
- Post-Sales Support:Provide post-sales account handling, troubleshoot issues, and ensure customer satisfaction to foster repeat business.
- Market Awareness:Increase company market share and brand awareness by developing and implementing effective sales strategies.
- Reporting & Administration:Maintain accurate sales records using CRM software and provide regular reports on sales activities and performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Expertise:Strong technical knowledge of electrical control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, VFDs, switchgear, and control panel design principles.
- Communication & Presentation:Exceptional verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Negotiation & Problem-Solving:Proven ability to negotiate effectively and resolve complex technical and commercial issues.
- Client-Centric Approach:A customer-focused approach to understanding and meeting client needs.
- Business Acumen:Skills in market research, analysis, and strategic planning to drive business growth.
- Education & Experience:A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is often preferred, along with prior sales or engineering experience in the electrical control panel industry.
