Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Commis I (Asian) to join our culinary team in Ahmedabad, India. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will specialize in Asian cuisine, contributing to the creation of authentic and delicious dishes that delight our customers.
- Prepare and cook a variety of Asian dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts
- Assist in the preparation of marinades, sauces, and spice blends for Asian specialties
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation
- Maintain and operate various Asian kitchen equipment and utensils
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards in all aspects of food handling and preparation
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation for Asian cuisine ingredients
- Contribute to menu development and suggest new Asian dishes
- Maintain a clean and organized work station
- Support other kitchen areas as needed during peak hours
- Follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in dish preparation
- Continuously improve culinary skills and knowledge of Asian cuisine
Qualifications
- Proven experience (1-2 years) in a professional kitchen, with a focus on Asian cuisine
- Strong knowledge of Asian cuisine, spices, and flavor profiles
- Proficiency in various Asian cooking techniques
- Excellent knife skills and food preparation abilities
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, with current food safety certification
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Team player with excellent communication abilities
- Culinary diploma or equivalent culinary education preferred
- Familiarity with local ingredients and flavors of Ahmedabad, India
- Knowledge of Asian kitchen equipment and utensils
- Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in dish preparation
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and adjusting recipes
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work in a hot kitchen environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
