Role & responsibilities:
Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions for students facing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, academic pressure, social adjustments, behavioral challenges or other psychological challenges.
Assess student’s psychological & emotional health and behavioral concerns and implement necessary interventions (usually evidence-based therapeutic interventions and techniques), including referrals, if needed. This will require, if not limited to :
- Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations (usage of standardized assessment tools, if required) to identify student’s needs and develop & implement personalized treatment plans.
- Provide therapy sessions using evidence-based techniques & modalities (e.g. cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, etc.) to promote positive changes to help the student improve his/her overall well-being and achieve therapeutic goals.
- Develop and implement effective coping strategies to manage stress and anxiety.
Crisis Intervention and Support: Counselling psychologist will offer crisis intervention services and emotional support to students experiencing acute distress, trauma, grief, or other crisis situations. The psychologist should provide a safe and supportive environment for students to express their feelings, process traumatic events, and develop coping strategies to manage crises effectively. Collaborate with faculty and administration to identify at-risk students and promote early intervention strategies.
Design and implement mental health awareness workshops, stress-relief activities and healthy lifestyle behaviors to promote psychological well-being and resilience. Counselling psychologist should empower students to develop self-awareness, self-esteem, assertiveness, and problem-solving skills to navigate life's challenges more effectively. Assist in orientation programs to help new students adapt to college life. Develop mental wellness resources (pamphlets, videos, newsletters).
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including counselling sessions, assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries in line with ethical and legal guidelines.
- Track psychological health trends on campus and suggest policy or support changes as needed.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. for comprehensive student care. Stay updated with current research, best practices, and therapeutic approaches in the field. Attend workshops, conferences, or training programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive environment, ensuring students thrive academically and personally.
Preferred candidate profile:
Master’s degree in psychology, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in student counselling adolescents or young adults.
Certification from a recognized counselling or clinical body is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Conduct oneself with empathy, compassion and cultural sensitivity.
Should be able to maintain appropriate boundaries, respect clients' autonomy and cultural diversity, and prioritize clients' well-being and privacy in all interactions and interventions.
Ability to handle confidential matters with integrity.
Proficiency in psychometric testing tools and mental health screening.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
