Position Summary:
The Associate Professor of Microbiology will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting impactful research, and contributing to the academic and administrative functions of the department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in microbiology with demonstrated excellence in both research and education, particularly in areas such as bacteriology, virology, immunology, or clinical microbiology.
Key Responsibilities:Teaching:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in microbiology and related subjects.
- Develop course materials, practicals, and lab exercises.
- Supervise undergraduate, master's, and PhD student research projects.
- Participate in curriculum development and academic planning.
Research:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in microbiology.
- Publish regularly in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
- Apply for and manage external and internal research grants.
- Collaborate with national/international institutions on joint research initiatives.
Service and Administration:
- Serve on academic and administrative committees at department and university level.
- Participate in student advising, mentoring, and academic assessments.
- Support departmental initiatives, outreach activities, and quality assurance processes.
- Mentor junior faculty and contribute to faculty development.
Qualifications:
- Education: PhD in Microbiology or a closely related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of teaching and research experience at the university level, with evidence of increasing responsibility.
- Publications: Strong record of publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
- Research Grants: Experience in securing research funding is desirable.
- Certifications (if applicable): Medical microbiology specialization or certification (for medical colleges).
