The Role: Azure Data Engineer
This role is primarily working on the KPMG Insight Platform (KIP), a strategic platform to enable the Deals’ technology transformation mentioned above. The Data Engineer will work along a team of Senior and Junior Data Engineers, and work with Data Architects and Project Managers as part of the project teams to deliver the programme of works.
Advisory Tech
The Advisory Tech team are the UK Technology Transformation team for Advisory, responsible for developing the KPMG Insight Platform (‘KIP’), which provides advanced technology to support the delivery of KPMG services.
KIP is the primary data capture, management and analysis tool used in Advisory engagement delivery and supports complex analytics and the sharing of these with Clients through a secure portal. Within the Advisory Tech team sits the Data Operations team, supporting the delivery of engagements using KIP Self-Service Analytics.
The position in discussion is with the Data Operations team within Advisory tech.
- Sprint delivery activities/demonstrations to business team.
- Decision making on ETL Pipelines Azure data factory.
- Performs data profiling of source data in order to identify data quality issues and anomalies, business knowledge embedded in data
- Design data validation rule on source data to confirm the data has correct and/or expected values.
- Explore alternate workflow steps or reports back to the source for further analysis and correction of incorrect record(s) when validation rules are not passed.
- Soft skills in terms of training, leadership and understanding of teams' problems
- Sense of ownership is a must to drive and work with a sense of urgency
- Experience, designing and implementing solutions in the Microsoft Azure stack using technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Server, Synapse Analytics, Analysis Services and Power BI
- Skilled in data modelling across both operational (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) use cases.
- Experience of working across end-to-end software development, technology or consulting projects (strategy, discovery, design, development and deployment).
- Experience explaining complex processes and circumstances in technical and non-technical terms to ensure all understand.
- A talent for clear, concise communication and getting your point across, both verbal and in written format.
- Experience in working with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and familiarity with the benefits and risks of each.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, handle quickly changing priorities, and be capable of managing yourself to achieve maximum results.
- Strong people skills, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.

- Azure DevOps
- MS Azure Services
- Azure Data Factory
- SQL Server
- Azure Analysis Services
- Power BI
- Azure Dev-opps(Git)
- Advanced T-SQL development and trouble shooting skills.
- Advanced ETL design and development skills using Microsoft SSIS tools.
- Strong knowledge of data warehouse design using Kimball methodology.
- Microsoft Fabric Learning is good to have.
