Job Purpose:
To ensure that mirror products (inner/outer rear-view mirrors, mirror housings, and related components) meet customer specifications, regulatory standards, and internal quality requirements through effective inspection, testing, problem-solving, and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Planning & Control
- Develop and implement quality control plans for mirror components and assemblies.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspection of mirror housings, reflective glass, actuators, and assemblies.
- Ensure adherence to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Defect Analysis & Problem Solving
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) using problem-solving tools (8D, Fishbone, Why-Why Analysis).
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with production and supplier teams.
- Monitor recurring defects and implement Poka-Yoke solutions.
- Customer & Supplier Quality Management
- Handle customer complaints, prepare response reports, and ensure timely closure.
- Conduct supplier audits and support supplier development for mirror raw materials and components.
- Maintain proper documentation of PPAP, APQP, and quality reports.
- Testing & Validation
- Carry out functional tests on mirrors (vibration, durability, fogging, heating, motorized adjustment, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with automotive safety and performance standards.
- Support new product development with quality validation and pre-launch approval.
- Process Monitoring & Improvement
- Monitor process parameters in injection molding, glass cutting/coating, and mirror assembly.
- Work closely with production to reduce rejections, rework, and improve first-pass yield (FPY).
- Implement Lean Six Sigma methods to minimize defects and improve efficiency.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality performance reports.
- Maintain QMS documents (Control Plans, FMEA, Work Instructions, Check Sheets).
- Support internal and external audits.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of quality tools: PPAP, APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D, CAPA.
- Hands-on experience with inspection equipment (CMM, Profile Projector, Vernier, Micrometer, etc.).
- Knowledge of automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
- Problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Good communication skills for customer and supplier interaction.
Qualification & Experience:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile / Production Engineering (or equivalent).
- 2–5 years of experience in Quality function, preferably in automotive mirror / plastic injection molding / assembly division.
- Experience with OEM/Tier-1 customer requirements is an added advantage.
