The incumbent is to direct all functions of the mechanical maintenance workshop and issues related to processing units. This position focuses on the effectiveness, reliability, and efficiency of Lubrizol’s Mechanical assets through the LIPL Maintenance Department. He is to ensure that work is done in a safe and environmentally sound working environment, and that work is accomplished in an economic and timely manner. He is to provide the leadership for the mechanical section and ensure that both short term and long-term planning is accomplished. This position is necessary to provide a focus for the mechanical maintenance section on the issues at hand and to serve as a responsible and accountable source for the performance of the LIPL Plant’s mechanical equipment and maintenance work.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- The primary responsibility of the Manager (Mechanical) is to management maintenance of manufacturing facilities, associated infrastructure and manufacturing equipment.
- The Manager (Mechanical) directs and manages the plant maintenance staff, programs maintenance activity, typically under direction of the Maintenance head, to ensure safe, timely and efficient operation of all plant machinery and equipment.
- Manages the mechanical maintenance staff and activities for maintaining all plant machinery.
- Ensure that the corrective and preventive maintenance are appropriately scheduled and accomplished, and that emergency troubleshooting and maintenance support are readily available as needed.
- Collaborate with Production, Project, Purchase and other departments to achieve results.
- Workshop activity scheduling, work performance and performance management to ensure measurable goals, proper workload distribution, goal satisfaction and effective staff performance management.
- Set targets to continual improvement of maintenance processes and maintenance personnel performance to achieve enhanced levels of efficiency.
- Directs necessary instructions to mechanical officers to improve maintenance standards.
- Recommendation and arranging training for mechanical staff.
- Ensure availability of spares for maintenance.
- Arranges for finalization of various contracts in co-ordination with the purchase section, monitoring expenditure and informing all to all concern people.
- Ensures that the work habits conform to approved SOPs and JSA.
- Contribute to planning work with appropriate decision making.
- Providing technical and diagnostic advice to staff as required.
- Sharing of knowledge wherever required.
- Inspection of equipment spares / equipment.
- Helping engineering stores to develop standards and specifications.
- Providing technical support to the Project department.
- Ensures that QMS/EMS/OH&SMS requirements are properly implemented and maintained.
- Analysis of data for expenditure, failures, development and implement corrective plan.
- Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop maintenance staff so that repair and service activities are completed accurately, safely, and on-time.
- Develop and implement innovative ideas to improve reliability and reduce cost.
- Lead Engineering stores operations.
Requirements (education, experience, competencies and specific job requirements):
Education / Certification:
Graduate in Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge of SAP and MS Office is a must.
Experience and Skills:
Minimum 15 years of experience in managing the mechanical maintenance section in the chemical process industry and handling hazardous chemicals. Awareness about BMP (Best Maintenance Practices), engineering standards, PM / PDM techniques, Maintenance analysis, spare part inventory management, manpower management, TPM and other aspects related to 5S strategies is advantageous.
