Local Finance Controller

Description:

We are looking for a qualified Local Finance Controller with hands-on experience in bookkeeping, statutory compliance, and communicating with key stakeholders. This role involves maintaining statutory and legal compliance, as well as overseeing day-to-day financial operations including accounting, statutory filings, and coordination with auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bookkeeping & Accounting:
• Maintain accurate books of accounts, journals, ledgers, and trial balance in line with Indian GAAP or IND-AS and US-GAAP
• Oversee payables, receivables, expense tracking, and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Work with external accounting firms for tax compliance (TDS, GST, Income Tax).

Controller Responsibilities:

• Own company-wide month-end close process, internal controls, and account reconciliations.
• Coordinate audit processes (statutory, tax, internal), and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting in collaboration with global finance teams.
• Support payroll inputs and statutory compliance related to PF, ESI, PT, etc.

Cross-Functional & Strategic Support:

• Act as “right-hand” to VP of Finance as partner in the business on the overall company
• Assist with fundraising due diligence, compliance for ESOPs, and legal documentation.
• Act as the local point of contact for international HQ or investors for compliance and finance topics.
• Support vendor and customer onboarding with appropriate documentation and compliance checks.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Law; CA-Inter or MBA Finance is a plus.
• 3–8 years of experience across secretarial, accounting, and controller responsibilities.

Skills & Competencies:

• Sound understanding of corporate law, FEMA, and financial reporting standards.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask across compliance and finance.
• Proficient in Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Tally, or similar accounting platforms.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally and globally.
