- Handling Import Documentation: They receive and verify all import documents, such as the Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Certificate of Origin. They check for accuracy and compliance to prevent issues during customs clearance.
- Customs Filing and Coordination: The executive prepares and submits the necessary documents to customs authorities. They are responsible for filing the Bill of Entry and other required forms, either electronically or manually.
- Liaison with Authorities: They act as the main point of contact between the client, shipping lines, and various government agencies like Customs, Port authorities, and other regulatory bodies. They follow up on the status of clearances and resolve any queries.
- Duty and Tax Calculation: The executive calculates the correct customs duty, taxes, and other charges based on the Harmonized System (HS) code of the goods and current regulations. They ensure that payments are made on time to avoid fines.
- Client Communication: They regularly update clients on the status of their shipments, informing them of any delays, and providing details on clearance procedures and delivery schedules.
- Record Keeping: They maintain a comprehensive record of all import files, documents, and correspondence for auditing and future reference.
