Job description - Copyeditor
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Copyeditor to join our team, specializing in the editing of higher education Journals or Books. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional editing skills, comprehensive grammatical knowledge, and a sharp eye for detail. You will be responsible for reviewing and refining manuscripts to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to industry standards while meeting project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior editing skills and thorough understanding of grammar.
- Familiarity with major style guides (APA, MLA, Chicago) and reference works.
- Should be able perform style editing and Language editing up to L2 level
- Check facts and raise queries with the author.
- Checking correctness of illustrations and captions .
- Query factual inconsistencies
- Remove repetitions and redundancies
- Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
- Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
Experience:
- 4 to 9 years of professional experience in copyediting, preferably within the higher education publishing sector.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage collaboratively with authors and team members.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong time management and analytical capabilities.
