Position Overview
As a Medical Virtual Assistant, you will perform a variety of administrative and patient care coordination tasks for healthcare practices. You will communicate with patients, handle scheduling, manage records, and assist with insurance processes, all while ensuring HIPAA compliance. You will be the go-to person for the doctor for all miscellaneous tasks to ensure their day runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and follow up on patient appointments
- Provide patients with additional information and answer non-clinical queries
- Contact insurance companies on behalf of patients
- Manage and update patient information and medical records
- Follow up on insurance claims and appeals
- Verify insurance details provided by patients
- Send appointment reminders and patient SMS notifications
- Perform patient follow-up calls
- Handle email communication, receive and forward messages
- Serve as a virtual receptionist for inbound patient calls
- Document patient visits in real time if required
- Collaborate with office staff to ensure workflow efficiency
- Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a medical office assistant, virtual assistant, or in a healthcare administrative role
- Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA privacy protocols
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with scheduling software, video conferencing tools, and EMR systems
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy
