The business development team leader plays a crucial role by creating the plan, monitoring, making adjustments to the plan and presenting information about the progress to company executives. The business development team leader provides the necessary skills and experience required to develop business in an increasingly diverse market place. As a team leader, you must have experience working in complex environments. You have to be clear about the results you expect and devise strategy to achieve them by providing the necessary guidance to other members of the team. The skills you have developed may require you to work in a multicultural context, for example, as you may be expected to oversee teams in foreign countries depending on the nature of your business A team leader must establish the scope and needs of a given business development project. These activities may include establishing the resources required in terms of manpower, finances and equipment; estimating period of completion; and handling challenges and other unexpected events that may come up in the course of conducting the business. You must communicate these details to other team members to streamline operations. Depending on the business hierarchy, you likely will be required to report your project outline and activities to senior management As a team leader, you have to set revenue goals and enact marketing strategies that enhance product sales. Establish strong relationships with customers by coordinating efforts between them and your team members. By setting the right targets, you drive the business revenue on a short-term and long-term basis by identifying potential clients and aiming to keep them as repeat customers. Devise metrics to gauge both customer satisfaction and team members’ success in achieving set objectives
