Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary School Teacher to educate and inspire underprivileged children. The teacher will create an inclusive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment using experiential learning, active learning methods, and effective classroom management techniques. This role requires 8 hours of daily commitment, ensuring holistic child development through academics, life skills, and socio-emotional support. The teacher should be passionate and work towards achieving the learning outcomes and impact in the best interest of the child.
Preference will be given to the candidates staying nearby the job location.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning
- Design and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.
- Utilize experiential learning methods such as hands-on activities, real-world problem-solving, and field trips to enhance understanding.
- Implement active learning strategies like group discussions, storytelling, role-playing, and interactive games to keep students engaged.
- Integrate arts, music, movement, and play-based learning to make lessons enjoyable and effective.
- Foster critical thinking and creativity by encouraging inquiry-based and project-based learning.
- Use multisensory teaching techniques to cater to diverse learning needs.
2. Classroom Management
- Establish a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Use proactive behavior management techniques like positive reinforcement, peer mentoring, and self-regulation strategies.
- Develop and enforce clear classroom rules and expectations while maintaining a nurturing atmosphere.
3. Student Support & Holistic Development
- Identify and support children with learning difficulties or social-emotional challenges.
- Provide individualized attention to help students overcome academic and personal barriers.
- Instill values of empathy, respect, and responsibility through daily interactions.
- Work closely with school counselor, social workers, and parents to ensure a well-rounded support system.
4. Community & Parental Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents and guardians to encourage involvement in their child’s education.
- Organize parent meetings, workshops, and home visits to strengthen school-home connections.
- Engage in communities with different local stakeholders for the mobilization of children to support their enrolment in school.
5. Assessment & Reporting
- Conduct continuous and formative assessments using observation, quizzes, and student portfolios.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
- Develop individualized learning plans for students needing extra support.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) or equivalent.
- Experience: Prior teaching experience in primary education, preferably with underprivileged children.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of child psychology and learning theories.
- Ability to apply experiential and active learning techniques.
- Patience, adaptability, and empathy towards children from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching.
Work Schedule
- 8-hour daily shift (including lesson planning, teaching, student support, and administrative tasks).
- Flexible working hours may be required for parent meetings, community engagement, or extracurricular activities.
