Role Summary:
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) in cancer screening camps plays a critical role in conducting preliminary medical assessments, supervising screening activities, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, and providing immediate care and counseling to patients. The RMO is responsible for overseeing the smooth and safe medical operations during the camp.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient history, clinical examination, and risk assessment for breast, cervical, and oral cancers.
- Support and supervise the screening team (nurses, lab technicians, ANMs, etc.) in conducting procedures like VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid), oral cavity exams, breast exams, and Pap smears (if applicable).
- Interpret basic diagnostic reports and coordinate with specialists if referral is needed.
- Provide counseling to patients regarding screening results, preventive care, and next steps.
- Ensure all medical activities are carried out according to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Handle any medical emergencies and provide first aid or stabilizing treatment before referral if required.
- Maintain proper documentation, consent forms, and patient records in coordination with the data team.
- Assist in generating camp reports and feedback documentation post-camp.
- Ensure infection control practices and maintain hygiene at the screening site.
- Liaise with local healthcare workers, government officials, and partner organizations during the camp.
Qualification and Experience:
- MBBS degree from a recognized institution with valid registration from Bihar Medical Council.
- 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred (prior experience in public health or screening programs is an advantage).
- Basic knowledge of cancer types and early detection methods.
- Willingness to travel and work in field conditions.
