Job Description
Vantiva seeks an experienced Software Developer to work along with a team of engineers that develops software and manages customer engagements covering a wide range of Connected Home's Cable and Telco Broadband Gateways for the worldwide market. In addition, software architecture design/review across multiple platforms will be part of the critical role you play at Vantiva, as our product portfolio diversifies across multiple hardware platforms.
In this challenging role you will be responsible for collaborating with team members to develop software features associated with Multi-Services IP Gateways, Smart Home Gateways that are sold in the Service Provider market. You will need to work with and coordinate the efforts of both internal and external (ODC/ODM) resources based in North America, Europe, and Asia. You will need to contribute to overall product design from a software architecture perspective, keeping in mind multiple customer requirements and hardware characteristics across various platforms.
In this position, you will be expected to:
- Be the entry point to Software Development and Test teams for Product Management, Program Management, and Customers for Scoping Requests, formalizing and communicating software development and test plans, driving software deliverables
- Works in an Agile environment and continuously reviews the business needs, priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks.
- Define and formalize software plans through writing EPICs and working with architects and engineers to reach Story level detailing. Provide backlog grooming, iteration planning, and defect prioritization collaborating with Scrum Master, Development and Test leads
- Review product requirements, functional specifications, standards document (RFCs and specs).
- Create customer relationships by Partnering with Product Management and Program Management, working closely with the customers to understand requirements, test plans and expectations
- Fully accountable for providing software development and test status external to the Product Unit
- Work with engineering, product management, business development, and account managers to champion the needs of key customers.
- · Contribute to product design discussions on overall software feature/interop compatibility across different platforms.
- · Have the necessary technical skills to communicate the details of complex Data, VoIP, Gateway, Wi-Fi, and Video features.
- · Communicate regularly with key customers to manage expectations regarding key software deliverables.
- · Drive and manage product qualification and post sales issues that could impact the business.
- · Communicate regularly with customer engineering teams and operations to de-risk deployment issues that will affect deployments of Vantiva products.
- · Facilitate customer feedback into the development and customer engagement process.
- · Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- · Develop and maintain project plans, ensuring timely delivery of software products while adhering to quality standards.
- · Conduct regular code reviews and implement best practices for software development within the team.
- · Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software development efforts with overall business objectives.
- · Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions to enhance product offerings.
- · Manage resource allocation and capacity planning to optimize team performance and meet project deadlines.
- · Participate in customer-facing meetings and presentations to demonstrate software capabilities and gather requirements.
- The position requires an experienced manager with strong technical and communication skills.
- Experience in the following areas is highly desirable:
- · IP Networking protocols (IPv4, IPv6, RIPv2, SNMP, DHCP, TFTP, FTP, TCP, UDP).
- · Fiber (xPON), Copper (xDSL, Gfast), DOCSIS, WiFi specifications protocols, test procedures and debugging.
- · VoIP system architectures and network elements.
- · Home Networking Protocols (HNAP, uPNP, RIPv2, TR69, etc)
- · Wireless (802.11b/g/n/ac/ax) including wireless encryption (WPA2, WPA, WEP), WPS, DFS, and WMM
- · OpenWRT and RDK-B Routing Stacks.
- · Agile (Scrum) Development Methodology
- · Programming languages: C, C++, Java
- · Embedded Real-Time Operating Systems (Linux, eCOS)
- · Debug skills covering: IP networking, MGCP/NCS and SIP signaling protocols, DNS, DHCP, TFTP, RTP, Video, routers and routing protocols, data load testing and redundant / fault tolerant configurations.
Industry Experience: 15+ years of industry experience as described above. Prior experience with software development of complex systems is a MUST. Experience in working with large NSP/MSOs is preferred
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- knowledge on RDK, 802.11
- Balance of technical knowledge and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Proactive, self-starter with high degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence team members and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
- Expertise with JIRA or comparable Agile tool for backlog grooming and planning
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent practical experience
- MS project in addition to Jira
