What We're Looking For : We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) or Database Engineer with strong expertise in both Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, particularly in Transactional Processing (TP) environments. The ideal candidate will support, optimize, and maintain high-performance transactional systems while participating in migration projects, schema design, and database automation.
Job Description :
· Administer and maintain Oracle and PostgreSQL databases in production and development environments.
· Monitor and optimize performance in high-volume transactional processing systems.
· Design and implement database structures, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing strategies.
· Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
· Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions.
· Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and database interactions.
· Support database migrations and data replication between Oracle and PostgreSQL.
· Implement and maintain security best practices for both Oracle and PostgreSQL.
· Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PL/PgSQL).
Required :
- 4+ years of experience with Oracle Database (11g/12c/19c) administration.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
- Strong knowledge of ACID principles, transaction isolation, and locking mechanisms.
- Experience managing OLTP systems or high-throughput transactional applications.
- Proficient in SQL tuning, query optimization, and execution plans.
- Familiarity with tools like pgAdmin, Oracle Enterprise Manager, or equivalent.
- Experience with replication, partitioning, and HA configurations.
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments.
Preferred :
- Experience migrating databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of cloud-based RDBMS solutions (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, etc.).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD for database deployment.
- Experience with PL/SQL and PL/pgSQL scripting.
Education :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Certifications (Optional but Valuable)
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- PostgreSQL Certified Professional or relevant credentials
