Dresser Job Description Job Title: Dresser / Medical Dresser / Ward Dresser Reports To: Nurse-in-Charge / Ward Supervisor / Medical Officer Job Summary: The Dresser provides support in the care and management of patients’ wounds, assists in dressing changes, maintains cleanliness of dressing materials and instruments, and helps in minor medical procedures. They play a crucial role in infection control and patient comfort. Key Responsibilities: Clean and dress wounds under the supervision of a nurse or doctor. Assist in minor surgical procedures or suturing by preparing and handing over instruments. Sterilize dressing materials and maintain the dressing trolley. Ensure aseptic techniques are followed to prevent infections. Maintain inventory of dressing supplies and request replenishments. Dispose of medical waste as per hospital guidelines. Assist in patient hygiene and mobility if required. Record details of dressing procedures and report any abnormalities to medical staff. Qualifications: Education: Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent (10th or 12th pass). Preferred: Certificate or diploma in Dresser Training, Nursing Assistant, or First Aid and Wound Management from a recognized institute. Experience: 1–2 years of experience in a hospital, clinic, or health center is preferred. Freshers with relevant training may also be considered. Skills: Basic knowledge of wound care and hygiene. Familiarity with medical instruments used in dressing. Ability to follow medical instructions and aseptic techniques. Physical stamina and ability to stand for long hours. Compassionate, patient-focused, and good communication skills. Basic record-keeping and inventory management. Work Environment: Hospital wards, outpatient departments (OPD), emergency rooms, or minor procedure rooms. Often works in shifts, including weekends or holidays.
