Job Description for the Mainframe Z/OS System Programmer - CICS
7+ years of experience on the z Series (mainframe) platform including “hands on” technical experience (installation and maintenance of products) related to CICS TS and OEM product support.
Primary Skill set
- Expert in CICS Administration & Product Support
- Create and configure CICS regions.
- Thorough working knowledge of the capabilities and use of CICS TS and installation/Upgrade and tailoring of CICS TS and as well as CICS TS related OEM products.
- CICS Monitoring and Performance tuning by using tools like OMEGAMON.
- CICS Security administration by using RACF.
- Provide primary support for reported problems related to CICS TS and related OEM software products.
- Fulfill customer service orders (CSOs) for mainframe z/OS customers on time as they pertain to CICS TS and OEM software products.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of CICS TS concepts, configuration and tailoring.
- RACF Support & Security Admin
- Create, update, and delete RACF user IDs.
- Create and manage RACF groups.
- Resource access control
- Dataset and CICS security integration
- Regularly review logs for suspicious activity.
- Conduct periodic access reviews with application/business owners.
- Remove or revoke unused or expired IDs.
- Follow ITSM change control procedures:
- Implementing vendor product specific corrections (“fixes”) and
- Upgrade, maintain, enhance or provide new options to applicable z/OS products within any given customer partition.
- Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis and in multiple time zones.
- Follow procedures for installing OEM software products efficiently and according to best practices.
- Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows implementation on time.

- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
