Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented junior security analyst with strong analytical and scripting skills to help collect, process, and interpret data from honeypot systems across multiple technologies. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with logs, basic data analysis, and visualization tools, and has a passion for understanding attacker behaviors through forensic examination and threat intelligence.
Responsibilities:
Collect and review logs and events from a variety of honeypot types: web apps, APIs, databases, etc.
Write scripts or use log analysis tools (Splunk/SIEM basics, Elasticsearch, grep/awk/python) to identify patterns, attacker IPs, and reconstruct attack chains.
Build basic dashboards or visualizations for attack timelines and trends (using Grafana, Kibana, or even Excel).
Support honeypot development by creating realistic “bait” data/content for testing.
Help document attack scenarios, TTPs, and make recommendations to harden/deepen honeypot lures.
Technical Skills Required:
Comfort working with Linux and Windows environments.
Beginner experience in analyzing system/service logs (web server, database, Linux auth logs, etc.).
Scripting familiarity: at least one of Python, Bash, PowerShell.
Experience manipulating and parsing data files (CSV, JSON, log formats).
Understanding of basic SQL for querying event data or databases.
Exposure to data visualization or reporting tools (Excel, Google Sheets, or basic use of Grafana/ELK).
Security Experience:
1+ years coursework, internship or project work related to cybersecurity or IT operations. Exposure to cybersecurity concepts such as logging, detection, and incident response (even in an academic or home lab). Some experience with CTF, security competitions, or analysis of open attack datasets. Demonstrated interest in learning about attacker behaviors, log forensics, or threat analysis. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science with 1-3 years of industry experience. Strong verbal and written communication Proficiency in documentations.
