Job Summary
The Junior Lab Technician is responsible for assisting in laboratory testing, sample collection, equipment maintenance, and day-to-day operations of the lab under the supervision of senior staff. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and timely support in diagnostic procedures
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Handling & Preparation
· Collect, label, and prepare biological samples (blood, urine, sputum, etc.) for testing.
· Assist in sample processing such as centrifugation, smearing, and staining.
· Ensure proper storage and transportation of specimens as per standard protocols.
Laboratory Testing Support
· Perform basic lab tests under supervision, such as blood counts, glucose testing, urine analysis, etc.
· Assist in setting up and operating laboratory instruments and analyzers.
· Record test results accurately and report abnormalities to senior technicians.
Equipment Maintenance
· Clean, disinfect, and maintain laboratory equipment and work areas daily.
· Assist in calibration and troubleshooting of instruments under guidance.
Documentation & Reporting
· Enter patient and test data into registers or Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
· Maintain daily logs, test records, and quality control data.
Compliance & Safety
· Follow biosafety, infection control, and biomedical waste disposal guidelines.
· Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lab hygiene practices.
· Comply with NABL, ICMR, and institutional standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
· DMLT (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology) from a recognized institution.
· Candidates with B.Sc. MLT or pursuing the final year are also eligible (preferred).
Experience:
· 0–2 years of laboratory experience (internship or practical training during coursework is acceptable).
Skills:
· Basic knowledge of laboratory tests and procedures.
· Familiarity with sample collection and handling techniques.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Basic computer skills for data entry (preferred).
Working Conditions:
· Hospital, clinic, or diagnostic laboratory setting.
· Rotational shifts or weekend duty may be required.
· Exposure to infectious materials and chemicals with proper PPE provided.

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
