Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and analyze insurance applications (Health, Life, or General Insurance) based on risk assessment principles.
- Interpret financial documents, medical reports, and risk factors to determine the insurability of individuals or businesses.
- Collaborate with insurance partners to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and finalize policies.
- Recommend coverage terms, premiums, and policy conditions in line with company and insurer guidelines.
- Maintain strong relationships with insurers, internal sales/support teams, and clients.
- Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with internal policies and external regulatory (e.g., IRDAI) guidelines.
- Assist in renewals, endorsements, and policy modifications as needed.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and regularly update data on CRM or internal systems.
- Provide technical support during claim assessments, where applicable.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience as an underwriter in a broker, insurer, or TPA setting.
- Knowledge of underwriting principles across at least one major line of insurance (Health, Life, Property, Liability, etc.).
- Familiarity with regulatory norms (especially IRDAI) and insurer underwriting guidelines.
- Proficiency in MS Office and insurance underwriting or CRM tools.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
