Key Responsibilities:
- Review insurance applications and supporting documents to evaluate risk exposure.
- Analyze statistical data, reports, and previous claims to determine the likelihood of future losses.
- Determine coverage amounts, premiums, and policy terms.
- Use underwriting software and tools to assess risk and produce quotes.
- Communicate decisions and explain underwriting policies to brokers, agents, and clients.
- Collaborate with actuaries, claims adjusters, and sales teams to refine risk assessment criteria.
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines, state regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and policy details.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field (CPCU or similar certification preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in underwriting, insurance, or risk assessment.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficient in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
