To deliver high-quality teaching in Applied Biology at undergraduate diploma/degree level (aligned with international standards), with a strong emphasis on laboratory techniques, applied learning, and preparing students for both higher studies abroad and industry careers in India.
Core Responsibilities
Deliver engaging lectures and practicals in biology-focused applied sciences.
Conduct laboratory-based learning, ensuring adherence to international standards and Indian industry needs.
Guide students in applied research projects, linking concepts with real-world applications.
Maintain laboratory facilities, ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
Develop assessments, assignments, and evaluation methods suitable for vocational learning.
Mentor students on academic progression, internships, and career opportunities.
Requirements
Instructor Skill Set
Biology & Applied Science Knowledge
Expertise in cell biology, human physiology, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and environmental biology.
Understanding of infectious diseases, diagnostics, and clinical sciences relevant to Indian and global contexts.
Ability to link classroom concepts to Indian biotech, research, and healthcare industries.
Teaching & Pedagogy
Strong background in applied/vocational teaching approaches with student-centric focus.
Experience in designing lab-based assignments, assessments, and projects.
Capability to integrate research and entrepreneurship skills into teaching.
Professional & Soft Skills
Effective communication and mentoring ability.
Experience in collaborating with Indian research labs, diagnostic centers, and biotech industries.
Commitment to developing a safe, inclusive, and outcome-driven learning environment.
Laboratory Techniques & Practicals (Illustrative)
The instructor must be able to design and deliver laboratory sessions including but not limited to:
Microscopy & Staining: Light microscopy, cell and tissue preparation, Gram and H&E staining.
Microbiology & Aseptic Techniques: Culture preparation, microbial identification, antimicrobial sensitivity testing.
Biochemical Analysis: Protein estimation (Biuret/Lowry), enzyme kinetics, carbohydrate and lipid assays.
Spectrophotometry & Colorimetry: Quantitative analysis of biomolecules, calibration of instruments.
Molecular Biology: DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR demonstration.
Clinical & Physiological Techniques: ECG recording, spirometry, blood pressure monitoring, haematology (RBC/WBC counts, hemoglobin estimation).
Environmental Biology: Water/soil quality analysis, microbial contamination testing, biodiversity surveys.
Research-Oriented Practicals: Mini-projects such as antimicrobial activity of herbal extracts, epidemiology surveys, case studies in diagnostics.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree (MSc in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Applied Sciences).
Teaching qualification or proven higher education teaching experience.
Minimum 3 years’ laboratory work experience within the past 5 years (essential).
