Job Summary
The Commis-I (Indian Cuisine) is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Indian dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. The role requires strong knowledge of Indian curries, tandoor, gravies, and other regional specialties, while maintaining hygiene, portion control, and consistency in taste and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and present Indian dishes according to recipes and standards.
- Ensure proper portion control, consistency in taste, and high-quality food presentation.
- Assist senior chefs in daily kitchen operations, menu planning, and special events.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the work area as per HACCP/food safety standards.
- Check freshness of ingredients and ensure proper storage of raw and cooked items.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Minimize food wastage and contribute to efficient use of kitchen resources.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth and timely service during operations.
- Support in training junior staff and commis.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety, and hygiene regulations.
Skills & Requirements:
- Proven experience as Commis-I .
- Strong knowledge of Indian curries, tandoor, and regional Indian cooking techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Culinary diploma or relevant certification preferred.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Requires standing for long hours, lifting, and working under heat.
- Flexible with shifts, weekends, and holidays.
