Job Description of Granulation operator
A granulation operator sets up, operates, and maintains equipment like mixers, dryers, and blenders to process powdered materials into granules, typically for the pharmaceutical or plastics industries. Key responsibilities include accurately weighing and mixing ingredients, performing quality checks to ensure product specifications are met, maintaining clean and safe work areas by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and documenting production data. The role requires adherence to strict safety and regulatory guidelines, including Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in pharmaceutical settings.
Key Responsibilities
· Equipment Operation:
Operating and maintaining various granulation machines, such as fluid bed dryers, blenders, and granulators.
· Material Handling:
Safely and accurately weighing, mixing, and adding powdered ingredients and binding solutions according to batch instructions.
· Quality Control:
Conducting visual and physical checks during and after the granulation process to ensure products meet required specifications and quality standards.
· Process Monitoring:
Monitoring production targets, material usage, and machine operations, making necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency.
· Maintenance & Cleaning:
Disassembling, cleaning, and performing routine maintenance on equipment to ensure its proper functioning and prevent contamination.
· Documentation:
Accurately completing manufacturing documents, recording production data, and maintaining logs of activities.
· Safety & Compliance:
Adhering to safety regulations, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and company SOPs.
Skills & Qualifications
· Technical Skills: Experience in operating manufacturing machinery, including mixers, dryers, and sifters.
· Attention to Detail: Ability to perform precise measurements and conduct thorough quality checks.
· Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of safety regulations and cGMP, especially in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
· Communication: Effectively communicating with supervisors, colleagues, and maintenance staff.
· Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy weights and perform repetitive tasks.
· Teamwork: Working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
