Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Esprit CAM Programmer and CAD Fixture Designer to support CNC machining operations by generating toolpaths using Esprit CAM software and designing precision work holding fixtures in CAD. The candidate should have experience with multi-axis CNC machining and fixture development for high-accuracy and complex components.
Key Responsibilities:
CAM Programming (Esprit):
- Develop and optimize 2D/3D CNC programs using Esprit CAM software for turning, milling, and multi-axis machines.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and strategies based on material, machine, and component geometry.
- Simulate and validate NC programs for accuracy, collision detection, and machining efficiency.
- Collaborate with production and tool room teams for program implementation and troubleshooting on shopfloor.
- Support cycle time reduction, tool life optimization, and machining consistency.
Fixture Design (CAD):
- Design and model work holding fixtures for CNC machining (jigs, soft jaws, clamping systems) using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360).
- Ensure fixture designs meet GD&T requirements, rigidity, accessibility for tools, and minimal part deformation.
- Generate 2D manufacturing drawings and BOM for in-house or external manufacturing.
- Coordinate with toolroom or external suppliers for fixture fabrication and validation.
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) by designing fixtures for prototype and production batches.
Process & Documentation:
- Maintain revision control and file management for CAM programs and fixture CAD files.
- Document setup sheets, tool lists, fixture drawings, and operation sequences.
- Participate in design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews and process planning.
- Provide training/support to CNC machine operators for setup and running new programs or fixtures.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical / production / Tool Engineering.
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in CNC programming using Esprit CAM software.
- Experience in fixture design for precision machining using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, CNC machine kinematics, and machining fundamentals.
- Exposure to multi-axis machining (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, or mill-turn) is preferred.
- Familiarity with various materials (aluminium, Stainless steel, titanium, etc.) and machining strategies.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of simulation tools within Esprit for collision and toolpath validation.
- Understanding of CNC setup procedures, tool presetting, and fixture validation.
- Exposure to lean practices and continuous improvement in machining.
- Basic knowledge of ERP or CAM file management systems.
