Inc42 is looking for a Data Operations Trainee who is highly detail-oriented and process-driven, with a passion for ensuring data accuracy at scale. The successful candidate will be responsible for the manual verification, tagging, and maintenance of structured datasets across Inc42’s Datalabs platform.
As a Data Operations Associate, you will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data related to Indian startups, funding rounds, investors, and financials. You’ll collaborate closely with research and product teams to identify and fix inconsistencies, ensure data hygiene, and support downstream analytics and editorial use cases.

What You'll Do
Completion: Research and fill gaps in startup profiles by adding missing fields using credible primary and secondary sources.
Freshness: Continuously monitor and update outdated records to ensure all datasets reflect the most recent and accurate information.
Accuracy: Cross-verify company, funding, and financial data with MCA filings, stock exchange disclosures, investor presentations, and reputed media sources.
Auditing: Conduct regular audits to detect anomalies, inconsistencies, or missing fields across datasets.
Validation: Design and refine validation processes that detect anomalies before data flows into downstream systems.
Pipeline Audits: Perform manual checks and corrections on flagged records in automated pipelines to maintain data integrity in real time.
Thesis Verification: Review and validate sector tagging for companies to ensure alignment with Inc42’s sector taxonomy and sector thesis.
Designing Data Quality Frameworks: Create structured frameworks and playbooks for data completion, freshness, accuracy, and anomaly detection to improve long-term operational efficiency.
0 to 1 years of experience in research, data or analyst roles will be preferred.
Strong command of Google Sheets (formulas, filters, lookups, etc.) and comfort with handling large datasets.
Excellent attention to detail, logical thinking, and problem-solving mindset.
Exhibits strong interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.
People with engineering backgrounds will be preferred
