Job Summary:
The CCTV Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating the closed-circuit television (CCTV) system to ensure the safety and security of people, property, and premises. This role involves observing and reporting any suspicious activity, incidents, or breaches in real-time, and maintaining accurate records of events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor live CCTV footage across multiple locations and detect any suspicious or unauthorized activity.
- Operate and control CCTV equipment and other security systems as required.
- Maintain constant surveillance of assigned areas to ensure a secure environment.
- Respond promptly to alarms and incidents; report findings to appropriate personnel or law enforcement.
- Record all incidents and activities observed via CCTV in a detailed and accurate log.
- Preserve the confidentiality of footage and ensure secure storage and handling of video recordings.
- Support investigations by retrieving and providing relevant footage as requested.
- Follow protocols for emergency situations (e.g., fire, intrusion, suspicious packages).
- Conduct routine equipment checks and report malfunctions to technical support.
- Liaise with onsite security personnel to coordinate response and actions.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in CCTV operations or security monitoring preferred.
- Basic knowledge of security systems and surveillance equipment.
- Ability to focus for long periods and make sound judgments quickly.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and observational skills.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and handle confidential information.
- Must be willing to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Licensing or certification in CCTV operations may be required depending on local regulations.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with video analytics software and access control systems.
- Good report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Conflict resolution and incident management experience is a plus.
