Job Summary:
The Bar and Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the bar and dining area, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining service standards, and supporting the staff in providing high-quality food and beverage service. The Captain acts as a liaison between management and the service team to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Greet and welcome guests professionally and courteously.
- Handle guest complaints and feedback promptly and effectively.
- Ensure guests are satisfied with food, beverages, and overall experience.
Supervision and Leadership:
- Oversee daily operations of the bar and restaurant floor.
- Lead, support, and motivate the service team.
- Conduct briefings before service to inform staff about specials, promotions, and assignments.
Operational Duties:
- Ensure proper table settings, cleanliness, and readiness before service.
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely service and correct orders.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with management for replenishment.
- Enforce hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
Training and Development:
- Train new staff on service procedures, customer interaction, and POS systems.
- Continuously monitor staff performance and provide feedback or coaching.
Sales and Promotions:
- Recommend menu items and beverages to guests.
- Upsell food and drink items to maximize revenue.
- Support in implementing promotional events or special menus.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality certification or diploma is a plus.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a food and beverage supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of POS systems, restaurant operations, and beverage service.
- Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
