Key Responsibilities
As a junior team member, your focus will be on learning, contributing to operations, and gradually building independent capabilities:- Assist in building and maintaining infrastructure using modern tools and methodologies under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in setting up monitoring, logging, and alerting to help ensure system visibility and proactive issue detection.
- Learn and apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Ansible with support.
- Automate routine tasks with scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) to enhance efficiency.
- Contribute to incident response playbooks and system documentation to aid operational continuity.
- Support cloud-based deployments on platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure through guided hands-on experience.
- Join on-call rotations as part of a learning progression, always with mentorship.
- Engage in team learning sessions and retrospectives to continuously develop your understanding of scalable and reliable systems.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We don’t expect you to have everything—but a curiosity to learn and a foundational understanding are essential.Must-Have Fundamentals
- Understanding of Linux-based operating systems.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, or Go).
- Knowledge of basic networking and distributed systems concepts.
- Awareness of DevOps culture, version control (Git), and CI/CD principles.
- Eagerness to work with containers (Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Problem-solving mindset and openness to feedback.
- Clear and collaborative communication skills.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Experience with any monitoring tool (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
- Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Interest in GitOps practices using tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
- Familiarity with CI/CD platforms like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- You steadily grow in confidence and technical scope over your first year.
- You proactively ask questions and complete learning milestones.
- You contribute to team initiatives, no matter how small, with quality and care.
- You begin to own components of our infrastructure workflows under supervision.
- You participate in postmortems, retrospectives, and playbooks—learning how systems break and how we fix them.
