Job Purpose: This role is responsible in overseeing timely electrical maintenance activities to ensure equipment availability and operational readiness during assigned shifts. This includes handling plant emergencies, developing preventive maintenance schedules for enhanced reliability, and providing immediate corrective actions to maintain continuous operations. The role also encompasses monitoring equipment conditions, issuing work permits for safe electrical maintenance, and managing essential spare parts inventory to prevent unplanned outages and minimize downtime. Coordination with various departments and supervision of junior technicians are key to ensuring smooth plant operations.
Shift Engineer Electrical
Operational Management:
Ensure availability and readiness of equipment by ensuring timely electrical maintenance activities during assigned shift.
Handle plant emergencies and take immediate corrective actions to ensure continuity of operations.
Monitor the condition of plant equipment and systems to prevent breakdowns and unplanned outages.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to enhance equipment reliability.
Issue Permits to Work (PTW) for electrical maintenance activities, ensuring safe work practices.
Provide temporary electrical connections to user departments as required.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
Update maintenance logs and documentation for future reference and audits.
Ensure backup power systems are operational and regularly tested.
Technical Expertise and Troubleshooting:
Ensure efficient material issuance and inventory management using SAP.
Troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems during emergencies to minimize downtime.
Perform periodic testing of electrical systems to anticipate potential issues.
Inventory Management:
Maintain an inventory of essential electrical spare parts and tools.
Coordinate with the Techno Commercial department to order necessary parts and supplies.
Ensure timely replenishment of inventory to avoid delays in maintenance activities.
Coordination and Supervision:
Supervise and guide junior technicians during the shift.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless plant operations.
Report to senior management about ongoing and future maintenance needs.
Business Sustainability:
Implement and Follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA, ABEM and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
Maintain the safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
Participate in regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Promote a culture of environmental stewardship by minimizing waste and optimizing resource use.
Implement sustainable practices in electrical maintenance to reduce the plant's carbon footprint.
Digitalisation and Automation:
Execute comprehensive Digitalisation strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.
Monitor data from digital systems to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Educational Qualification:
BE/B.tech in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Work Experience (Range of years):
4+ years of experience in electrical maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Preferred Industry:
Experience in heavy industries such as power generation, steel manufacturing, or similar sectors with a focus on plant operations and maintenance.
