The Role
Infrastructure Specialists at Kyndryl are project-based experts in all infrastructure-related matters. They excel in analysis, documentation, creating diagrams for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally resolving complex issues. This hands-on position requires a keen understanding of the interaction between systems and their environments, which is crucial for client success.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead OS and middleware patching activities for AIX systems.
Analyze and assess patch requirements and their impact on infrastructure and applications.
Create and maintain detailed work plans and procedures based on existing design documents, past procedures, and templates.
Collaborate closely with internal and external teams to ensure successful implementation of changes.
Review customer-requested changes, provide feedback, and implement them in a timely manner.
Execute patching and maintenance tasks, ensuring minimal disruption to system operations.
Collaborate with Japanese-speaking clients and internal teams to gather requirements and provide technical support.
Work will be conducted on-site in a Security Room with access to necessary systems and tools to perform tasks securely.
This project-based role offers deep involvement throughout the project lifecycle and the opportunity to collaborate closely with Architects, Technicians, and Project Managers. Required Technical and Professional Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of experience in AIX system administration.
Strong knowledge of IBM Power Systems, LPAR, VIO, and HMC.
Proficiency in shell scripting (KornShell, Bash, etc.).
Experience with NIM, NFS, LDAP, and other Unix services.
Familiarity with SAN storage and backup solutions.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Fluency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or higher preferred) and English, both written and verbal.
Experience working in a bilingual IT environment.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:
Working knowledge of WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and DB2.
Prior experience in managing AIX systems in a similar role.
Familiarity with middleware management and patching processes.
Experience in a high-security work environment.
