2021 S&P Dow Jones Indices Internship Program
Position Description

The S&P Dow Jones Indices Index Management and Production Group (IMPG) intern program is a three-month, full-time position beginning in May or June 2021. The program seeks to attract high achievers from a diverse pool of undergraduate and postgraduate institutions. As an intern, you will get exposure to several teams within the S&P Dow Jones Indices Index Management and Production Group. Exceptional learning agility, time management, and analytical skills are necessary for your success. You will be able to apply your skills to real-world industry scenarios, gain experience in communicating in a professional environment and contribute to key projects that are critical to the calculation of S&P Dow Jones Indices.
IMPG interns have the opportunity to assist S&P Dow Jones Indices with achieving its mission to provide benchmarks that accurately gauge the markets and help institutions and individuals make well-informed decisions.
Interns will also be provided with the chance to meet with and network with senior business leaders within the Indices unit.
Roles & Responsibilities
Interns will spend a significant amount of time utilizing excel to conduct data analysis
Perform analytical research on companies for S&P’s annual IWF (Investable Weight Factor) review
Perform fundamental data research on companies and re-engineer processes to improve effectiveness of index rebalancing
Incorporate Data Science and Artificial Intelligence based solutions to improve the quality of S&P’s products and processes
Contribute towards change management/business transformation initiatives across different verticals within IMPG
Contribute towards index specific projects and deadlines
Updating and/or building presentations for index committees
Utilizing various data vendor software to support the maintenance process of standard indices
Maintain key relationships with other organizations within the department
Work in close coordination with the technology group to further improve our system capabilities and/or troubleshoot production issues Location
Mumbai Qualifications
From an accredited university or college is required
All majors eligible; Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, and Finance majors preferred
Must be able to work independently on projects
Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving, time-management, attention to detail and organizational abilities
Understanding of financial markets
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of programming languages such as VBA, Python or Matlab (good to have)
