- Collect blood samples from patients, donors, or clients using proper phlebotomy techniques.
- Ensure hygienic and safe procedures to avoid contamination or infection.
- Verify identity and necessary documentation before collection.
- Explain procedures to donors/patients and address any concerns.
- Label samples accurately with correct patient/donor information.
- Ensure timely and safe transport of samples to the laboratory.
- Maintain sterile, functional equipment (needles, syringes, vials, etc.).
- Monitor inventory and request supplies as needed.
- Follow all biosafety, infection control, and health regulations.
- Dispose of sharps and biomedical waste according to protocols.
- Record collection details in registers or software systems.
- Prepare daily reports on collections and send them to the supervisor or lab.
- Assist in setting up blood donation camps or mobile collection units.
- Coordinate with donors and ensure smooth camp operations.
- Be prepared to manage donor reactions like dizziness, fainting, or nausea.
- Report any incidents to the supervisor or medical officer immediately.
