We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Mainframe Engineer to join our Technology team. This role is located in Pune.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Use existing and emerging technology platforms to design, develop, and document technically detailed applications.
- Write new complex systems involving multiple levels of table dimension and internal sorts to accomplish new functions; design and code programs and create test transactions.
- Analyze organizational needs and goals to develop and implement application systems; provide application software development services or technical support in situations of moderate complexity.
- Gather requirements and prepare Business Requirement Documents (BRD) and System Requirement Documents (SRD).
- Conduct reviews of test plans and test data; program well-designed, testable, efficient code.
- Analyze, design, and develop tests and test-automation suites; develop flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions.
- Maintain software functionality and currency by managing technical debt and gains; actively participate in code reviews.
- Integrate software components into fully functional software systems applying security and privacy principles.
- Execute full lifecycle software development including software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
- Troubleshoot, debug, upgrade existing systems, and ensure software is updated with the latest features.
- Participate in deployment processes following all change controls; provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and actively engage in learning and development activities.
- Demonstrate teamwork by leveraging existing products/functionality, promoting reuse, and collaborating cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, project managers, and other engineers.
- Compile documentation of procedures and act as a mentor to junior engineers.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 2-6 years of experience in software development; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience developing mainframe applications.
- Prior experience with specific application development toolkits and mainframe development languages such as COBOL, DB2, and CICS.
- Knowledge of company IT infrastructure, daily operations, and the impact of planned changes.
- Understanding of modern and traditional structured methods for developing applications.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with cross-platform interoperability (e.g., NT, Intranet) and major tools in toolkits for specific platforms.
- Ability to resolve hardware, software, and communications malfunctions with an understanding of business impact.
