What You Will Do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. We are seeking a data‑driven problem‑solver who thrives in ambiguity and excels at translating complex data into decisive action. You will drive the analytical backbone of our digital‑sourcing ecosystem by delivering insights, models, and decision‑support tools that unlock value‑creation opportunities across Amgen’s global spend.
Roles & Responsibilities
Data Enablement & Analytics Delivery
Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that integrate sourcing, supplier, market, and risk data from disparate enterprise systems (SAP, Ariba, SirionLabs, Coupa, etc.).
Develop advanced analytics products - dashboards, scorecards, statistical models, and predictive algorithms - to inform category strategies, supplier negotiations, and risk‑mitigation initiatives.
Own the enterprise sourcing‑analytics layer (e.g., Power BI / Tableau semantic models) and serve as product owner for enhancements; document stories, define acceptance criteria, and guide release testing.
Establish and automate KPI frameworks that quantify cost savings, ESG impact, and operational efficiency at global, regional, and site levels.
Insight Translation & Change Enablement
Transform analytical findings into clear narratives, data‑visualization assets, and actionable recommendations for executive leadership, category managers, Finance, and ESG teams.
Create data‑driven adoption heat‑maps to target training and change‑management interventions that accelerate the use of analytics tools across Global Strategic Sourcing.
Deliver training, “office hours,” and self‑service resources that elevate analytical literacy among cross‑functional stakeholders.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate emerging data‑science techniques (generative AI, large‑language models, graph analytics) and pilot innovative use‑cases that expand the organization’s analytical maturity.
Quantify waste in current reporting workflows, redesign future‑state processes, and codify best practices in standard‑operating procedures aligned with GxP and SOX control frameworks.
Functional Skills
Must‑Have Skills
Advanced Analytics & Data Engineering: Hands‑on expertise with SQL, Python or R, data‑modeling principles (Kimball, Data Vault), and cloud data‑platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
BI & Data‑Visualization: Proven track record building Power BI, Tableau, or Looker dashboards that drive business outcomes; ability to optimize semantic layers and DAX/LOD calculations.
Statistical & Predictive Modeling: Experience applying regression, clustering, time‑series forecasting, or machine‑learning algorithms in procurement or supply‑chain contexts.
ETL & Automation: Proficiency with integration tools (Alteryx, dbt, Informatica) and scripting for workflow automation and data quality monitoring.
Compliance & Governance: Working knowledge of SOX, GDPR, and data‑privacy regulations; experience documenting data‑lineage and control evidence for audits.
Good‑to‑Have Skills
Familiarity with digital‑procurement platforms (SAP Ariba, SirionLabs, Icertis) and source‑to‑pay process flows.
Exposure to AI/ML‑based supplier‑risk or contract‑intelligence solutions.
Soft Skills
Strategic Communication & Influence: Convey complex analytics in concise, compelling stories tailored to technical and non‑technical audiences.
Collaboration & Mentorship: Build strong cross‑functional partnerships; coach peers and stakeholders on data best practices.
Problem‑Solving Mind‑set: Apply structured, first‑principles thinking to ambiguous challenges, balancing tactical quick‑wins with long‑term scalability.
Adaptability & Resilience: Thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and simultaneous projects.
Attention to Detail: Ensure analytical outputs are accurate, reproducible, and decision‑grade.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Supply‑Chain Management, or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
4–6 years of progressive experience in data & analytics, ideally within procurement, supply chain, or enterprise operations.
Demonstrated delivery of analytics solutions that enabled cost‑savings, efficiency, or risk‑mitigation outcomes.
Hands‑on experience with at least one enterprise BI or data‑visualization platform (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
Experience working with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect).
