Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday (aligned with school schedule; may include occasional school-related events)

Reports To: Client (Parent/Guardian) and Coordinate with School Staff
About the Opportunity
This is a private hiring initiative on behalf of a client (parent/guardian) for a student in Class I at Kunskapsskolan International School in Gurgaon. Kunskapsskolan follows a personalized learning approach inspired by the Swedish KED model, emphasizing inclusivity and holistic development. The shadow teacher will support the student within the school's mainstream classroom environment to ensure effective learning and integration. Note: This position is not affiliated with or hired directly by the school; the selected candidate will work closely with the school but be employed by the client.
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Shadow Teacher to provide one-on-one support to a Class I student with special educational needs (SEN) at Kunskapsskolan Gurgaon. The role focuses on assisting the child in academic, social, and behavioral aspects during school hours, promoting independence and inclusion. Key Responsibilities
- Offer individualized, in-class support to the assigned student, including help with lessons, activities, and daily routines.
- Adapt teaching materials and strategies to address the student's specific needs (e.g., learning challenges, ADHD, autism spectrum, or other SEN).
- Collaborate with the client's family, school teachers, and any special educators to implement and monitor an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Track the student's progress through observations and reports, sharing updates with the client and school as needed.
- Foster positive behavior, social skills, and self-reliance using encouragement and tailored techniques.
- Ensure the student's safety and well-being while adhering to school protocols and child protection standards.
- Be present during full school timings (8:00 AM to 2:30 PM) and participate in relevant school meetings or parent discussions.
- Handle any additional support tasks as directed by the client.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certification in Special Education or relevant training (e.g., RCI registration, SEN courses, or Montessori methods) is highly desirable.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working with young children (ages 5-7), ideally as a shadow teacher, tutor, or special educator.
- Understanding of child development, inclusive strategies, and tools like visual aids, sensory activities, or behavior management.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi (additional languages are a plus).
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills to connect with the child, family, and school staff.
- Basic proficiency in digital tools for tracking progress and communication.
- Willingness to undergo background verification and provide professional references.
- Reliable transportation to Gurgaon and commitment to the school's daily schedule.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in international schools or with curricula like Kunskapsskolan's KED model.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies or apps for SEN support.
