About the Role
As a Claims Associate at Ethos, you will be responsible for the intake, processing, and tracking of life insurance claims, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and compassionate service. This includes taking inbound calls from beneficiaries and policyholders, working closely with carriers to transmit claim data, managing death claim files, meeting strict service level agreements (SLAs), and escalating suspicious activity to the appropriate teams. Success in this role requires high attention to detail, a commitment to process integrity, and the ability to balance efficiency with empathy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for beneficiaries and policyholders by taking inbound calls related to claims
- Manage the full claims intake and processing workflow from receipt to resolution
- Transmit claim data and documentation to carriers in accordance with established procedures
- Track and meet SLAs for claims processing while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Maintain the integrity of claims data across internal systems and carrier submissions
- Collaborate with carriers, internal departments, and external partners to resolve claim-related questions or escalations
- Review claims for potential fraud or suspicious behavior and escalate as needed
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and privacy requirements in handling claim information
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to team-wide best practices
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in claims processing, policy administration, or related operations role
- Life insurance industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to claims handling
- Proficiency with Salesforce or equivalent CRM/operations platforms
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey empathy and professionalism
- Strong time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities under deadlines
- Demonstrated integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information
