Job Description

Your Role
As a Principal Scrum Master, you will support one or more Kanban teams contributing to improve the flow of value delivery. You will act as a servant leader and coach for an Agile Team, educating the team in Kanban and ensuring that the agreed Lean-Agile process is being followed. This includes managing flow, ceremonies, estimating, writing stories, WIP limits, explicit policies, getting work done, removing impediments, acceptance criteria, understanding roles, and fostering collaboration within and with other teams. You will help team members communicate, coordinate, and cooperate, assisting the team in meeting their delivery goals. As a servant leader, you will enable teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective Lean-Agile practices, mastering the art of agile metrics.
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Serving as a member of the Agile Team.
- Applying systems thinking.
- Supporting the Product Owner with backlog replenishment.
- Coaching the team and ensuring that the team follows Agile principles and practices.
- Coaching the team on Kanban values and principles.
- Facilitating processes and meetings.
- Facilitating problem-solving.
- Supporting the team to communicate impediments outside of team control to leadership.
- Maintaining the metrics framework.
- Bringing in a culture of agility and continuous improvement.
- Ensuring action items from retrospectives are tracked to closure.
- Facilitating and coaching the team on Kanban practices such as:
- Improving visualization.
- Improving the flow of value by adopting lean principles.
- Defining explicit policies and ensuring they are followed.
- Defining and improving on WIP limits.
- Defining work item types and classes of services.
- Driving change and continuous improvements using data and metrics.
- Identifying bottlenecks and coaching for their removal.
- Maintaining JIRA health and ensuring that metrics can be pulled from JIRA.
The Experience You Bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years of related experience working in technology.
- Minimum of 5 years working as a Scrum Master and coaching teams on Agile, Scrum, and Kanban principles and practices.
- Minimum of 1 year as a Kanban Lead coaching the team on Kanban principles and practices.
- Familiarity with software development.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where production releases occur in 2-4-week durations.
- Understanding and use of agile metrics to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Good exposure to sizing techniques used in the agile process, such as Story Points.
- Experience in maturity assessment and continuous improvements.
- Expertise in the usage of Jira and JQL.
- Certification preferred: Certified as Kanban Management Professional, SAFe Scrum Master 6.0.
