About the Role:
McCloskey by OPIS has an opening for an experienced journalist in our global editorial
team. You will be a senior price reporter covering the global ferroalloys and bulk ores
markets, with a particular focus on India.
You will report to the Ferroalloys Associate Director and work alongside our industry-leading journalists and price reporters.
About the Team:

You Will:
- Report ferroalloys and bulk ore prices on a weekly basis, with a particular focus on India.
- Help launch new ferroalloys and bulk ores price assessments, define price specifications, gather market feedback.
- Generate news content on the ferroalloys and bulk ores markets, working closely with reporters in Africa and Europe.
- Periodic pieces on topical industry issues (e.g. regulatory/policy developments, geopolitical issues, investment, project pipeline, ESG etc.).
- Maintain strong client and industry relationships – ideally bringing these relationships from prior roles. Continually share and source market intelligence.
- Engage actively in business development, assisting OPIS’ account managers in the sales process through maintaining sales pipelines and assisting in the sales process.
- Be a public face of McCloskey and OPIS in the ferroalloys space, via client/stakeholder engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, content marketing.
You Have:
- 2 to 4 years of experience in the steel or steel raw materials industries and/or markets.
- Experience in covering ferroalloys, bulk ores or related markets as a journalist, analyst or price reporter.
- Excellent inter-personal skills, demonstrable impact and influence skills.
- Excellent ability to present and to lead public discussions (e.g. moderating panels at conferences)
- Strong quantitative skills advantageous
- Exemplary written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work within a team while sometimes operating alone
- Ability to manage others while maintaining personal output
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering would be advantageous
