Job Purpose: This role is responsible for managing the maintenance and operational integrity of rail track systems, including the management of resources, equipment, and materials in accordance with established plans and standards. This role also includes ensuring the timely execution of tasks to maintain track availability, contributing to budget planning, and upholding safety and cleanliness standards. Additionally, this role will be involved in reporting, documentation, compliance with railway audits, and the development of maintenance procedures.
Lead Engineer - Rail Track Maintenance
Resource and Operational Management:
Ensure adherence to the resource plan for Rail track equipment, including the Switching system, Hand points, track system, track alignment, cant, and versine parameters.
Ensure the packing of ballast and Sleepers, and maintain the condition of CMS crossings, Tongue rails, rolling stock, Check rails, and maintenance and measuring tools.
Execute notifications in a timely manner to guarantee the availability of the railway track and goods traffic, issue spares from stores, and ensure their availability on-site.
Provide input for the preparation of the budget for Railway track materials and accessories.
Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the Rail track and its surrounding area.
Support the Team Lead in Quality Checks and review the procurement of materials and equipment.
Participate in technical training and audits for the railway siding, conduct Level 2 and Level 3 trainings for all contractors, and update records in KRONOS.
Assist in the skill development of Technicians and business associates.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare audit reports and ensure compliance with Indian railway audits by PWI and ADEN as per RDSO guidelines.
Compile reports based on inputs from Team Leads/Section Heads for RCA (Root Cause Analysis), FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), and Technical audits.
Maintain historical records of each rail track system and inspection reports as directed by Indian railway ADEN/DEN.
Support Team Leads/Section Heads with attendance and quantity verification.
Raise Purchase Requests (PRs) as directed and approved by Team Leads.
Prepare Minutes of Meetings (MOM), inspection reports, and other documentation as directed by Team Leads and Section Heads.
Draft Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) for the area and submit them to Team Leads for review.
Business Sustainability:
Implement and follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
Follow safety protocols as per CHETNA guidelines.
Monitor and ensure safety of contract personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
Ensure compliance of notifications (predictive, preventive & corrective).
Execute and send confirmation for safety compliances as per GENSUITE.
Digitization and Automation:
Support comprehensive digitization strategies to optimise operational efficiency.
Innovate and implement automation solutions to support overall organisational goals / strategy.

Educational Qualification:
BE/B.tech in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
Work Experience (Range of years):
8+ years of experience in Railway Maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing rail track maintenance.
Preferred Industry:
Experience in the Power Plant, Railway siding for track maintenance industry, specifically with expertise in the operation and maintenance of Railway track yard.
