As a faculty member specializing in Communication Design, you will play a pivotal role in shaping future design leaders. Your primary responsibilities will include planning, teaching, mentoring, and engaging in academic and creative activities that align with international curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Mentoring:
· Deliver comprehensive coursework across diverse communication design disciplines, including graphic design, UI/UX, motion graphics, branding, storytelling, and emerging technologies in design.
· Guide students through conceptual and technical challenges, fostering innovative thinking and creativity.
· Mentor students on academic performance, personal growth, and career aspirations.
Curriculum Development:
· Design and refine course content to incorporate current trends and practices in communication design, including cross-disciplinary insights.
· Integrate technology, research, and industry relevance into teaching methodologies.
Student Evaluation:
Assess student progress through assignments, projects, critiques, and exams, providing constructive feedback to nurture growth.
Industry Engagement & Collaboration:
· Stay updated on global industry trends, tools, and technologies, ensuring students receive a contemporary design education.
· Coordinate guest lectures, workshops, and collaborative projects with industry experts to give students practical exposure.
Departmental Contributions:
· Actively participate in faculty meetings, curriculum planning, and institutional events.
· Contribute to research and creative initiatives that elevate the academic and professional standing of the department.
Professional Development:
Engage in professional growth activities, including conferences, seminars, and collaborative industry projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
PhD. or Master’s Degree in Communication Design, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
Experience:
· Minimum of (10 for PhD, 15 for Master’s, or 20 for Bachelor’s) years of combined industry and academic experience. Years of experience can be relaxed for an exceptionally talented candidate.
· Demonstrated success in teaching and mentoring at the university or college level.
Portfolio:
A robust portfolio showcasing expertise in various areas such as advertising, graphic design, UI/UX, branding, motion graphics, or interdisciplinary design projects of your own and a portfolio of students’ selected work.
Skills & Expertise:
· Proficiency in all aspects of design and excellence in one of the specialisations such as illustration, typography, brand identity and visualisation. Creative writing skills will be seen as a plus.
· Proficiency in design tools and software relevant to graphic design, UI/UX, and motion/3D design. Proficiency in software like Maya will be seen as a plus.
· Strong skills in curriculum design and development.
· Exceptional mentorship and coaching abilities.
· Effective communication, public speaking, and storytelling skills.
· Creative and critical thinking with an ability to inspire innovation.
· Project management skills and experience in collaborative academic or industry projects.
