Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Estimate Maker with Product Purchasing experience to join our dynamic architectural team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, sourcing and purchasing construction materials/products, and supporting the design team with basic AutoCAD skills. This hybrid role bridges cost planning, procurement, and basic drafting support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for architectural and interior design projects.
- Analyse architectural drawings and specifications to determine material and labour requirements.
- Coordinate with architects and engineers to clarify project scope and cost impacts.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers/vendors for best pricing, quality, and lead times.
- Create and manage purchase orders and delivery schedules.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of material costs, suppliers, and product alternatives.
- Use AutoCAD to assist with quantity take-offs, minor drawing edits, and material annotations.
- Work closely with project managers to align budgets and procurement timelines.
- Assist in cost control and value engineering exercises during design and construction phases.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate material deliveries to site as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an estimator and/or procurement officer in an architectural, construction, or interior design firm.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, finishes, and systems.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD (ability to read, interpret, and perform minor edits).
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other estimation or procurement software.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of local building materials, suppliers, and pricing trends.
- Experience with cost estimating software
- Familiarity with architectural processes and terminology.
