Job Description:
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate English Teacher to join our international academic faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the English language and literature, with the ability to teach across various international curricula including IB Diploma Programme (Language A or B), Cambridge IGCSE, A-Levels, and Lower Secondary levels.
You will inspire students to think critically, communicate effectively, and develop a love for language and literature through innovative and student-centred pedagogical approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons in line with the curriculum (IB DP, A-Level, IGCSE, or Cambridge Lower Secondary)
- Design assessments and tasks that meet international standards and support student growth in reading, writing, speaking, and listening
- Foster critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and appreciation for global perspectives in literature and language
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, provide timely feedback, and support students in achieving academic goals
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to enhance interdisciplinary learning and student wellbeing
- Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including IA (Internal Assessments), orals, and public examinations
- Support extended essay supervision or coursework guidance as required by the IB or Cambridge programmes
- Participate in school events, parent conferences, and professional learning communities
- Contribute actively to co-curricular activities, school culture, and community-building initiatives
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in English, English Literature, or a related field
- A teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience in an international school setting
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- IB DP English (Language A: Literature or Language & Literature; Language B)
- Cambridge IGCSE English (First Language/Second Language/World Literature)
- A-Levels English Literature or Language
- Lower Secondary English (Cambridge Checkpoint or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of assessment frameworks, academic writing, and critical analysis
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- A growth mindset and openness to continuous professional development
Desirable:
- IB Category 1/2 workshop training or Cambridge curriculum certifications
- Experience with interdisciplinary teaching, creative writing, or drama
- Familiarity with digital tools to enhance learning (e.g., Google Classroom, Turnitin, Padlet)
